...are noises you like to hear when sitting on a judging panel. It's easy to be critical, ungenerous and tight lipped, but at times your mouth can't resist a joyful and audible reaction when presented with work that has challenged convention and delivered beyond the brief - design is a wonderful tool and there is no better response than a gasp or a smile.
What you will see this year is the best of digital, identity, interior and packaging design that has created distinctive solutions for our clients and memorable and engaging experiences for their various audiences.
I want to thank Peter Knapp (Landor), Greg Quinton (The Partners), Sue Daun (The Brand Union), Stephen Bell (Coley Porter Bell), John Comitis (VBAT), Howard Smiedt (Ogilvy Action), David Villiers (G2), Peter Chodel (Addison), Adrian Burton (Lambie-Nairn), and Alasdair Lennox (FITCH), who collectively know a thing or two about the subject of design and branding, and worked with me this year to distil the entries down to outstanding examples of well crafted and innovative thinking.
Finally, well done to Landor, this year's Crème de la Crème winner. Bardot, their visually delicious project, elicited a collective ‘ooh and aah!' from everyone!
