Serving up tennis much faster than Serena.

How does a busy French fan keep up with the day’s tennis at tournament time?

As Nadal could tell you, everything depends on speed. That’s why IBM and O&M Paris created Datables for the French Open at Roland Garros. Datables were real-time snippets that updated fans with telling moments and data in matches on the go, much faster than text ever could.

With every ball hit, IBM collected vast amounts of match data. Back-end technology automatically generated entertaining animation to tell the building story in bite-size bits – results big and small, serve speed, miles run, times played, the list goes on.

O&M broadcast these in real time to digital out-of-home (DOOH) screens around France, posting them across social platforms as well.

Suddenly, tennis fans all over the country got it. They immediately grasped the visually-presented data, getting the tennis message in real time and much faster than by words.

IBM didn’t just update tennis data. They updated the way for busy fans to follow it.
